Sister Barb’s Ministry
Today, more than ever before, our society is in fast-forward and some expect those who are grieving to get on with life after a short time. For many families that is simply not the case. The need for sharing grief and praying for loved ones may often require months and even years of personal and spiritual healing.
Throughout my 47 years with the Diocese of London serving as a Sister of St. Joseph and as a Pastoral Minister with rural and urban parishes for the past 24 years, I have journeyed with many grieving families. It was evident to me that an ongoing pastoral presence should be an essential service offered by the Catholic Cemeteries.
Through my ministry at Heavenly Rest, I try to provide a listening heart and ear following the death of a loved one and also encourage everyone to come together in prayer. Once a month, we celebrate a Mass for the Deceased and on the Saturday prior to these special days we remember and honour our deceased Mothers and Fathers at prayer services. For a schedule please see 2007 Eucharistic Celebrations and Prayer Services.
I invite individuals and families of all faiths to contact me at Heavenly Rest and that sharing your journey will be an honor and privilege for me.
